Favorite albums of 2003-2009 in Radio Petenyi

2003

Centro-matics: Love You Just the Same

2004

William Shatner: Has Been

In fact, the best album was from Modest Mouse: Good News for People Who Love Bad News, but it would be boring to list this band each year they release an album (similarly for the period with the Beatles ...). Another extraordinary album was from Matthew Sweet: Kimi Ga Suki Raifu, released in 2004 only in Japan.

2005

Wir Sind Helden: Von Hier An Blind

Another fantastic album - Mate of States: Bring it Back.

2006

Gomez: How We Operate

Another excellent album - Centro-matic: Fort Recovery.

2007

Cloud Cult: The Meaning of 8

Of course, the best album was by Modest Mouse: We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. And if I would be in Japan in 2007, and not in 2008, the album Memoirs from Winterkids (now Flight of Kites) would take the posititon.
2008

Frightened Rabbit: Midnight Organ Fight

2009

Fanfarlo: Reservoir

Another excellent newcomer - Grammatics: Grammatics.

The favorite album of 2002 in Radio Petenyi

Okkervil River: Don't Fall in Love with Everyone You See.
Seeing and hearing them shortly after arriving to Austin in March 2003 from Europe. One of the best concerts in my life.

The favorite album of 2001 in Radio Petenyi

It seems that year 2001 brought to my attention the smallest number of albums in this decade. There were good albums from Stephen Malkmus or Low and some other in this year, but the one that has remained in my memory at most is the first solo release of Ben Fold - Rockin' the Suburbs.

Silkworm: Treat the new guy right.mp3

About another 15 songs added to the playlist of Radio Petenyi - more than 5 hours of favorite songs of the 2000s!

BTW, the child to whom this radio is devoted, was born in 2000:

Favorite albums of 2000s in Radio Petenyi - Part 0. (1999)

There are at least two albums that were recorded in 1999, but they played an important role in my life with the music in the year afterwards.

The main reason for that is the concert in May 2000, organized in Berlin by the label City Slang to celebrate their 10 years anniversary. The presence of two bands in this show influenced my music perception for quite a long time.

I remember that I was waiting for a follower of the album Hope and Adams from the band Wheat for many years in this decade, but they have not released the one of such a high quality yet.

See some pictures, sounds and animations of the band in Berlin here.

The second band remained my favorite one for the whole decade.

The Flaming Lips had a quite surrealistic concert early in the morning, see some pictures and sounds here. Their album The Soft Bulletin is a masterpiece.

The songs of these 2 albums were added to the playlist of Radio Petenyi.

Wheat - Body Talk, Part 2 - Hope and Adams

The Flaming Lips - Waitin' for a Superman (Mokran mix) - The Soft Bulletin

In the next post you will find my favorite album of 2000.
